Dolmathes are savory Greek stuffed grape leaves filled with seasoned ground beef and rice, offering a tangy lemon flavor and fresh dill, perfect for Mediterranean cuisine lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1 jar grapevine leaves
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, grated
  • 1 c. long grain rice
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 c. dill

Instructions

  1. Rinse grapevine leaves in cold water.
  2. Combine ground beef, salt, pepper, grated onions, rice, lemon juice, and dill in a bowl.
  3. Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of a grapevine leaf with the ribbed side facing up.
  4. Roll the leaf tightly around the filling to form a narrow roll.
  5. Repeat the process with remaining leaves and filling.
  6. Optionally, freeze the stuffed grape leaves at this point for later cooking.
