Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 1 tablespoon sifted cake flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cocoa, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Sift the cake flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a separate bowl.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.
  5. Cream the unsalted butter and gradually add to the batter, mixing until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
