A comforting bread and raisin pudding with a caramel-like brown sugar sauce, perfect for cozy dessert moments and suitable for all ages and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed lightly
  • 3 slices bread
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 eggs, beaten lightly
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread slices and butter them.
  2. Cut the toasted bread into cubes.
  3. Place the brown sugar in the top of a double boiler.
  4. Add the bread cubes to the sugar, then add the raisins on top.
  5. Beat the eggs and mix with the milk.
  6. Pour the milk and egg mixture over the bread and raisins without stirring.
  7. Cover and place the double boiler over boiling water that is half full of cold water.
  8. Cook gently for 1 hour until set.
  9. Turn out into a serving dish and serve warm, allowing the brown sugar to form a sauce.
