- Combine and mix the chocolate cake mix, eggs, butter, vanilla, and salt in a bowl.
- Add water and blend well.
- Fold in 2/3 cup chocolate morsels and 2/3 cup pecans.
- Cover and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.
- Form the chilled mixture into 1-inch balls.
- Place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet.
- Lightly flatten each ball with a damp fork in a crisscross pattern.
- Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Cool to room temperature.
- After cookies are baked and cooled, top with pecan halves if desired.
