Downhome Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 ready to bake crusts (9-inch)
  • 7 1/2 c. tart apples
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter, in bite size pieces

Instructions

  1. Place one unbaked pie crust in pie plate.
  2. Mix all ingredients and heap in pie plate. Cover with second pie crust, removed from store tin.
  3. Press top and bottom crusts together with tines of fork or your favorite fluting technique. Cut several small slits for steam to escape.
  4. Bake at 400° for 50 to 60 minutes. Check for doneness by piercing apples through a slit.
  5. Cool before slicing. Yields 6 slices.
