Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups sifted plain flour
  • 1/2 cup melted shortening

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk and add sugar, salt, and softened yeast.
  2. Cool until lukewarm.
  3. Add 2 cups of sifted plain flour and mix.
  4. Incorporate the beaten eggs into the mixture.
  5. Beat until smooth, then add the remaining flour.
  6. Let the dough rise until it doubles in size.
  7. Stir down the dough and let it rise again.
  8. Roll out the dough on a floured board.
  9. Cut the dough into individual rolls.
  10. Let the rolls rise until puffy.
  11. Bake in a hot oven until golden brown.
