Ingredients

  • 2 c sour milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c flour
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 2 T shortening
  • 1/2 t nutmeg
  • 1 c sugar

Instructions

  1. Sift flour and measure in baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Combine shortening, egg, sugar, and sour milk.
  3. Add sifted dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  4. Use sufficient extra flour to make a stiff drop batter.
  5. Drop by teaspoonfuls into 365°F fat.
  6. Fry until golden brown.
