Ingredients

  • stew meat
  • water
  • 2 large cans whole tomatoes
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 medium can V-8
  • 1 cup celery
  • 1 bay leaf
  • dash garlic salt
  • vegetables (your choice)

Instructions

  1. Brown the stew meat in a 4 to 6-quart pan.
  2. Add as much water as desired.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients, except for vegetables.
  4. Simmer for about 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender.
  5. One hour before serving, add the vegetables of your choice.
  6. Serve hot, ideally with corn bread.
