Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill seed
  • 2 teaspoons instant minced onion
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. In a small mixer bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of the flour with the dry yeast.
  2. In a saucepan, heat milk, sugar, butter, salt, dill seed, and minced onion until warm, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and cool if above 115°F.
  4. Add the warm mixture to the dry flour and yeast mixture.
  5. Add the egg to the mixture.
  6. Beat at low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl.
  7. Beat for 3 minutes at high speed.
  8. By hand, stir in the remaining flour.
  9. Cover the dough and let rise until doubled, about 30 to 45 minutes.
  10. Stir down the dough.
  11. Spread evenly in a well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan or a large round casserole.
  12. Let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes.
  13. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
  14. Cover loosely with foil if the bread browns too quickly.
  15. Remove from the pan and cool.
  16. Slice and serve.
