Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco oil
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast and warm milk to soften yeast, about 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, 1 cup milk, sugar, oil, salt, and egg.
  3. Add 1 cup of flour, stirring until smooth.
  4. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  5. Place dough in a well-greased bowl.
  6. Turn dough to grease the top.
  7. Cover and let stand in a warm place for 15 minutes.
  8. Punch dough down; cover and let stand another 15 minutes in a warm draft-free place.
  9. Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead 3 or 4 times.
  10. Divide dough into 24 pieces; shape into balls.
  11. Dip each ball into melted butter and place in pans.
  12. Let rise for about 15 minutes or more in a warm place.
  13. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
