Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. bread
  • 4 squares semi-sweet chocolate
  • 32 oz. eggnog
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons instant espresso coffee
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan and cut bread into 1-inch chunks. Coarsely chop the chocolate and toss with the bread in a pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggnog, half and half, sugar, instant espresso coffee, and eggs.
  3. Pour this mixture over the bread and chocolate, dot with butter.
  4. Place the prepared dish in a large roaster and set on the oven rack.
  5. Fill the roaster with water halfway up the side of the baking dish.
  6. Bake at 325°F for 1 hour until a knife inserted comes out clean.
  7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve warm with ice cream topping.
