Ingredients

  • 6 beaten eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 slices white bread without crusts, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1.5 pounds ground sausage, crumbled, browned, and drained
  • 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Combine the beaten eggs, salt, and dry mustard in a bowl and beat together.
  2. Add milk, cubed bread, grated Cheddar cheese, and cooked sausage. Stir to blend.
  3. Pour the mixture into a buttered 8 x 12-inch Pyrex baking dish.
  4. Refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Place the baking dish in a pan of water, 1/2 to 1 inch deep.
  7. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes until set and golden brown.
