Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.
  2. Sift together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. Beat the egg yolks in a mixing bowl until very thick and lemon colored.
  4. Gradually beat in the sugar.
  5. Blend in the boiling water and vanilla slowly on low speed.
  6. Quickly fold in the dry ingredients.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 25 minutes, until the top springs back.
