Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. Crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 6 c. all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and salt together.
  2. Add Crisco and eggs, then mix well.
  3. Boil milk and let it cool to lukewarm.
  4. Mix yeast with warm water and add to the cooled milk.
  5. Combine flour with the milk and yeast mixture.
  6. Add sugar and egg mixture to the flour mixture and knead until smooth.
  7. Place the dough in a warm place to rise until doubled in size, about 2 hours.
  8. Knead the dough down after rising.
  9. Pinch off portions of dough and roll into balls.
  10. Place the dough balls in a greased pan and let rise until doubled in size, several hours.
  11. Bake in a 350°F oven until golden brown.
