Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sharp or extra sharp cheese, soft
  • 2 sticks (1/2 lb.) margarine (not butter)
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix the soft cheese and margarine until well combined.
  2. Add cayenne pepper to the cheese mixture and blend.
  3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until the dough begins to pull away from the bowl but remains soft.
  4. Shape the dough into quarter-sized balls and place a pecan half on top of each.
  5. Use a pastry press with the straw or flat stick attachment to shape the dough into straws, if available.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C), preheated, for about 20 minutes until crisp and golden.
