Ingredients

  • 3 sticks sweet butter or margarine
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Put softened butter into a large bowl and mix with a mixer.
  2. Add sugar and mix again until well creamed.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well each time.
  4. Mix flour, salt, and baking soda together and add to the butter mixture with sour cream.
  5. Add vanilla extract and chopped walnuts.
  6. Mix again with the mixer.
  7. Add raisins to the mixture, stirring slowly with a large spoon until evenly mixed.
  8. Pour the mixture into a buttered tube or Bundt pan.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool for one hour in the pan.
  11. Turn the cake onto a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
