Ingredients

  • 7 lb. cucumbers
  • 2 c. lime
  • 2 gal. water
  • 2 qt. vinegar
  • 4 1/2 lb. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 1 tsp. mixed spices

Instructions

  1. Slice cucumbers and cover with lime and water.
  2. Let stand for 24 hours, then rinse in cold water.
  3. Let soak 3 hours longer in water, drain off water, and cover with a mixture of remaining ingredients.
  4. Leave overnight, then put on stove and boil for 35 minutes.
  5. Pack in jars and seal.
