Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 pound brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 sticks oleo (butter or margarine)
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 2 cups buttermilk or sour milk

Instructions

  1. Put 2 teaspoons of vinegar in the buttermilk or sour milk to make it sour milk.
  2. Mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Cut in the oleo (butter) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the sour milk and soda to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
  6. Sprinkle additional cinnamon and brown sugar over the top if desired.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
