Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. farina
  • 1/4 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 pt. whipped heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Beat egg yolks until light and gradually add sugar, farina, bread crumbs, chopped walnuts, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Beat the 6 egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the yolk mixture.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven while hot; it will look like it flopped.
  6. Break up the baked mixture into pieces in a bowl.
  7. When cold, layer the pieces on a large cake plate with whipped cream, forming a mound shape and covering with whipped cream.
  8. Decorate with cherry halves.
  9. Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours before serving.
