- Beat egg yolks until light and gradually add sugar, farina, bread crumbs, chopped walnuts, baking powder, and salt.
- Beat the 6 egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the yolk mixture.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes.
- Remove from oven while hot; it will look like it flopped.
- Break up the baked mixture into pieces in a bowl.
- When cold, layer the pieces on a large cake plate with whipped cream, forming a mound shape and covering with whipped cream.
- Decorate with cherry halves.
- Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours before serving.
