Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon rum flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon coconut flavoring

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and shortening.
  2. Add eggs, milk, rum flavoring, and coconut flavoring. Mix well.
  3. Add dry ingredients: sugar, flour, and baking powder. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Pour batter into two well-greased loaf pans.
  5. Bake at 325°F for 1 to 1 1/4 hours, sometimes longer.
  6. Test with a knife for doneness.
