Ingredients

  • 5-6 cups peeled fresh figs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2-3 teaspoons butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine peeled fresh figs, sugar, and flour; mix well.
  3. Spoon the fig mixture into an 8-inch square baking pan.
  4. Dot the fig mixture with small pieces of butter or margarine.
  5. Roll pastry into 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  6. Cut the pastry into 9 strips, each about 1/2 inch wide.
  7. Arrange the pastry strips in a lattice pattern over the fig mixture.
  8. Trim the edges of the pastry as needed.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
