Ingredients

  • 4 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 12 candied cherries

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of flour and the yeast.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk, sugar, butter, ground cinnamon, and salt just until warm (120-130°F), stirring constantly.
  3. Add the warm mixture to the flour mixture, along with the eggs.
  4. Beat with an electric mixer on low, scraping the sides constantly.
  5. Beat on high for 3 minutes.
  6. Stir in as much remaining flour as you can mix in with a spoon.
