Ingredients

  • 6 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups evaporated milk
  • 2 cups light corn syrup
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, evaporated milk, light corn syrup, and butter in a saucepan.
  2. Cook without stirring until the mixture reaches 240°F on a candy thermometer or forms a soft ball in cold water, about 25 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat; beat with an electric mixer until creamy, about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in chopped walnuts.
  5. Pour into a buttered 10 x 15-inch pan.
  6. Let stand until set.
  7. Cut into pieces and store in the refrigerator.
