Ingredients

  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 cup diced potatoes
  • 1 pound fish fillets
  • 2 cups half cream and milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon until crisp, then remove and set aside.
  2. Add chopped onion to the bacon drippings and sauté until lightly browned.
  3. Add hot water and diced potatoes to the onion and cook until potatoes are almost done.
  4. Cut fish fillets into approximately 1-inch square pieces.
  5. Add fish to the mixture and cook until fish flakes when tested with a fork.
  6. Pour in half cream and milk, then season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  7. Optional: Add chopped bacon to the chowder if desired.
  8. Heat through and serve.
