  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs (unbeaten)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 c. buttermilk or sour milk

  1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the shortening, sugar, unbeaten eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Beat the mixture for 1 1/2 minutes, then add the buttermilk or sour milk.
  4. Add the flour mixture and mashed bananas, and mix until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a prepared pan and bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.
