Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Divide the dough into 4 parts; shape each into a 13-inch wide roll and 3/4-inch thick.
  2. Place the rolls on an ungreased cookie sheet, 4 inches apart and 2 inches from the edge.
  3. Make a depression 1/4 to 1/3-inch deep along the length of each roll.
  4. Fill the depression with about 1/3 cup of red jelly or jam.
  5. Bake until the cookies are light brown, then cut each roll into 12 pieces and serve.
