Crispy freezer cream puffs with golden exterior, perfect for make-ahead desserts. Fill with whipped cream, fruit filling, or ice cream for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Heat water and butter to a rolling boil in a 1-quart saucepan.
  2. Stir in flour and cook over low heat, stirring vigorously until mixture forms a ball, about 1 minute; remove from heat.
  3. Add eggs and beat until smooth.
  4. Drop dough by scant 1/4 cupfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  5. Freeze uncovered until solid, about 4 hours.
  6. Place frozen puffs in a freezer bag, seal, and label; freeze up to 1 month.
  7. About 1 1/4 hours before serving, preheat oven to 400°F.
  8. Place desired number of puffs 3 inches apart on an ungreased sheet.
  9. Bake until puffed and golden, 45-50 minutes.
  10. Fill puffs with sweetened whipped cream, fruit pie filling, or ice cream.
  11. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
