Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons baking cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups milk or cream
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon melted grape jelly
  • nuts

Instructions

  1. Beat sugar and egg together until well combined.
  2. Add cocoa, cinnamon, and milk slowly, stirring continuously.
  3. Stir in flour gradually until the batter is smooth.
  4. Dissolve baking soda in the melted grape jelly and add to the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into a loaf pan.
  6. Scatter nuts over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake at 350° to 400°F for 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
