Ingredients

  • 1 deep dish pie crust shell
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded American or mild Cheddar cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1 (3 1/2 oz.) can French fried onions
  • 1 2/3 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and cookie sheet to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Reserve 1/2 cup of French fried onions.
  3. Sprinkle remaining fried onions on the bottom of the pie shell.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the onions.
  5. Combine eggs, milk, salt, and cayenne pepper, then pour over the cheese and onions in the pie shell.
  6. Bake on the preheated cookie sheet for 45 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle the reserved fried onions around the edge of the pie.
  8. Bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let stand before serving.
