Fried Bows

Fried bows are crispy, sweet treats with a delicate, flaky texture, perfect for dessert or special occasions. They are light, airy, and delightful with powdered sugar.

Ingredients

  • 6 eggs
  • 12 Tbsp. sugar
  • 12 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs in a large bowl.
  2. Add sugar, oil, vanilla, and salt to the eggs and mix well.
  3. Make a mound of flour on a clean surface and create a well in the center.
  4. Pour the egg mixture into the well and knead until smooth, adding more or less flour as needed.
  5. Roll small portions of dough about 3 inches wide, very thin.
  6. Cut the rolled dough into 3-inch rectangles.
  7. Cut a slit in the center of each rectangle, then pull one end through the slit to form a bow shape.
  8. Deep fry the bows until they are a light tan color, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving. These can be made ahead and stored for a few weeks.
