Ingredients

  • deer steak, cut in 1/4-inch thick slices
  • flour
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Tenderize the deer steak by berating with the back of a butcher knife or using a meat tenderizer.
  2. Dip the meat slices in a mixture of flour, salt, and pepper to coat evenly.
  3. Melt Crisco in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Allow the skillet to get hot before adding the meat.
  5. Place the coated meat in the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Cook slowly to prevent the meat from becoming tough.
  7. Optionally, soak the deer meat overnight in refrigerator in saltwater to reduce strong flavor; rinse well before cooking.
