Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Add the sugar to the well beaten eggs and mix well.
  2. Sift the cake flour and baking powder together.
  3. Gradually beat the sifted flour mixture into the egg and sugar mixture.
  4. Continue beating and add the vanilla extract.
  5. Scald the milk and melt the butter in it.
  6. Add the hot milk and butter mixture to the batter and mix thoroughly.
  7. Pour the batter into a buttered 9 x 9 inch pan.
  8. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
