Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup soft margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups oats
  • fruit filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  2. Mix together the soft margarine and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Add flour, salt, and baking soda to the sugar mixture; stir well.
  4. Stir in oats and mix until the consistency resembles cookie dough.
  5. Pat half of the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  6. Spread the fruit filling evenly over the layer of dough.
  7. Crumble the remaining dough evenly over the fruit filling.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into bars and serving.
