Ingredients

  • 3 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. dry cranberries or cherries, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 c. chilled butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 c. whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Butter 2 large cookie sheets.
  3. Sift flour into a bowl.
  4. Mix in both sugars.
  5. Add butter and rub in with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  6. Add dried fruit.
  7. Stir in enough cream to form a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  8. Turn dough out onto a slightly floured surface and knead until just combined.
  9. Gather dough into a ball; flatten into a disc.
  10. Roll out to a thickness of 3/4-inch.
  11. Cut out rounds using a 2-inch round cookie cutter.
  12. Gather scraps and re-roll on floured surface.
  13. Cut out additional rounds.
