Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Blend the flour and Crisco until the mixture resembles pie crust.
  2. Add baking powder and salt, mixing well.
  3. Combine with milk, sugar, beaten eggs, and vanilla to form the dough.
  4. Take about 1/4 of the dough and add more flour to it for the lattice strips.
  5. Press the remaining dough into a 13 x 20 x 3/4-inch pan to form the crust.
  6. Fill the crust with 1 1/2 to 2 cans of pie filling.
  7. Use the reserved dough to create crisscross strips for a lattice top.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes until bubbling and a toothpick inserted at the edge comes out clean.
