- Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- Beat shortening until creamy.
- Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and beat well.
- Add flour mixture alternately with mashed bananas, 1/4 at a time, stirring only until flour is moistened.
- Very carefully fold in cubed cranberry sauce and chopped nuts.
- Turn into a well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) about 1 hour.
