Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. For topping mixture, cream together cream cheese, beaten egg, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon salt.
  2. Stir in chocolate chips and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, 1 cup sugar, cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and baking soda.
  4. Add water, vegetable oil, and vanilla. Mix well.
  5. Press the dough into miniature muffin tins or tart pans.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and spoon or pipe the cream cheese mixture on top of each tart.
  8. Return to oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, until topping is set and slightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before removing from pans and serving.
