- Mix sugar, flour, and cocoa; gradually stir in evaporated milk.
- Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens.
- Add a small amount of the hot mixture to the beaten egg yolks, then return all to the pan.

- Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla, and cool for 5 minutes.
- Pour the filling into a pre-cooked pie shell.
