Ingredients

  • 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Start heating oven to 400°F.
  2. Grease two 8 x 8 x 2-inch pans.
  3. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening; remove from water.
  4. Add sugar, eggs, then flour, salt, and vanilla; stir well.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pans.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top.
  7. Bake for 12 minutes or until done.
  8. Cool in the pans.
  9. Cut into 32 (2-inch) squares.
