Ingredients

  • 1 lb. dry pinto beans
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can chopped green chiles
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 4 heaping Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1 heaping tsp. chili pepper
  • salt to taste
  • 4 heaping Tbsp. cornstarch or masa flour
  • 3 cans beef broth
  • 2 lb. ground beef

Instructions

  1. Cook the dry pinto beans according to the package instructions.
  2. When the beans are half done, pour off the water.
  3. Continue cooking the beans with the beef broth, covering the pot about 1 inch above the beans, topping off with water if necessary.
