Garlic pickles offer a tangy, sweet, and savory flavor with a hint of turmeric and dill, perfect as a crunchy condiment or snack for pickle lovers.

Ingredients

  • 4 qt. cucumbers
  • 4 medium onions
  • 1/3 c. salt
  • 3 c. vinegar
  • 5 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 1/2 tsp. celery seed

Instructions

  1. Cover cucumbers, onions, and salt with ice; let soak for 3 hours. Pour off water.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients and add cucumbers and onions to the vinegar mixture. Bring to a boil.
  3. Boil for 5 to 10 minutes. Fill hot jars with the pickles.
  4. Add 1 clove garlic, 1 sprig dill, or 1 teaspoon dill seed to each jar.
  5. Seal jars and let stand for a few days before serving.
