Ingredients

  • 2 boxes frozen chopped spinach
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups grated cheese
  • 2 large pods garlic, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 stick oleo
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the frozen chopped spinach and drain well.
  2. Melt oleo (butter or margarine) in a saucepan.
  3. Add chopped onion and garlic to the saucepan.
  4. Simmer the mixture; do not brown the onion and garlic.
  5. Stir in the cooked spinach.
  6. Add flour and stir until combined.
  7. Gradually add milk and continue stirring.
  8. Add grated cheese and stir until the cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
  9. Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish.
  10. Top with seasoned bread crumbs.
  11. Bake in the oven until browned and bubbly.
  12. Best when made a day in advance.
