Ingredients

  • 14 oz. package light caramels
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 6 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 package German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk

Instructions

  1. Melt caramels and evaporated milk over low heat until smooth.
  2. Hand stir the cake mix and spread half in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 6 minutes.
  4. Spread chocolate chips on top of the partially baked layer.
  5. Spread caramel mixture over the chocolate chips and pat on the remaining cake mixture.
  6. Bake for an additional 18 minutes.
  7. Cool the dessert, then refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.
