Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. cloves
  • 3/4 tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Mix ingredients.
  2. Cool dough.
  3. Cut with cutters.
  4. Roll dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  5. Bake at 375° for about 12 minutes.
