Ingredients

  • 6 to 12 pieces chicken
  • 4 tsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 Tbsp chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp chopped ginger
  • 1 chopped citronella or 1 drop citronella essence
  • 2 Tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Mix chicken with salt, dark brown sugar, chopped garlic, chopped onion, chopped ginger, citronella or citronella essence, and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a pan and add 2 tablespoons of oil.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook over low heat until golden.
  4. Add sugar to caramelize the chicken.
  5. Pour in 1/2 cup water and cook, covered, for 30 to 45 minutes until tender and flavorful.
