Gobblin' Doughnuts

- Scald milk.
- Add sugars, salt and margarine.
- Cool.
- Sprinkle yeast into warm water and stir until dissolved.
- Add lukewarm milk mixture, beaten eggs, orange peel, nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Add 3 cups of sifted flour.
- Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes).
- Place in greased bowl and brush with soft shortening.
- Cover and rise in warm place until doubled (about 1 1/2 hours).
- Punch down and roll out on floured board to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut with doughnut cutter.
- Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled (30 minutes).
- Drop a few at a time in hot fat (365°).
- Cook 2 to 3 minutes, turning once.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Sugar or glaze while warm.
