Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 qt. tomato juice
  • 1 c. tomato juice
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. ground allspice
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder (less spicy variation)
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. red cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot and drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion to the beef and cook until softened.
  3. Pour in the tomato juice and stir well.
  4. Add cinnamon, ground cumin, garlic powder, allspice, chili powder, pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper to the mixture.
  5. Include Worcestershire sauce and vinegar, stirring to combine.
  6. Add a few bay leaves and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  7. Reduce heat and let simmer uncovered for about 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Optional: Add a Hershey chocolate bar to taste for a sweeter flavor.
  9. Remove bay leaves before serving.
