Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 1 whole onion, sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic, chopped
  • turmeric powder
  • 1 large fresh tomato
  • cinnamon
  • powdered cloves
  • black pepper
  • cayenne
  • 1 cut up chicken in small pieces

Instructions

  1. Melt margarine in a saucepan.
  2. Saute onion slices until golden, then add 1/4 cup water.
  3. Add cayenne and turmeric to taste.
  4. Cut tomato into pieces and add to the pan to make a sauce.
  5. Cook until the mixture browns and grease separates.
  6. Add chicken pieces and garlic, and cook until lightly browned.
  7. Pour in 1 1/2 cups water and cook until the chicken is tender and brown.
  8. Add a pinch of cinnamon, powdered cloves, and fresh black pepper, then cook for a few more minutes.
  9. Serve hot with rice.
