Ingredients

  • 2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 c. white flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. raisins

Instructions

  1. Mix together all the dry ingredients including flours, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  2. Add the egg, margarine, and milk (or water) to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  3. Fold in raisins if desired.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased pan.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then serve with sugar, milk, or fruit.
