Instructions
- Pick over beans and wash.
- Soak in water overnight.
- In morning, parboil beans until they boil; remove from heat.
- In a bean pot, place onion in bottom, then add drained beans (save liquid), salt, sugar, molasses and salt pork on top.
- Fill pot with bean water to cover salt pork.
- Bake at 350° for 1 hour, then at 300° for 5 to 6 hours, adding bean water, if needed.
